About Dr. Lee

Dr. Worldster Lee is the founder and medical director of the Cataract & Vision Center of Hawaii. From humble beginnings, Dr. Lee grew up in Kalihi and Moanalua Valley, the eldest of eight children, and was the first in his family to attend college. After working his way through the University of Hawaii, Dr. Lee attended Northwestern University Medical School. Upon completing his residency, Dr. Lee was selected to train under Dr. Charles Schepens, a renowned ophthalmologist, and pioneer in retina surgery, at the Massachusetts Eye & Ear Infirmary, a teaching affiliate of Harvard University.

Early in his career, Dr. Lee had the unique honor of performing cataract surgery on former Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos. Today, Dr. Lee is widely recognized as a leading ophthalmologist and is one of the busiest cataract surgeons in the state of Hawaii. He performs over one thousand cataract surgeries every year and finds great satisfaction in helping Hawaii’s people attain better vision and thus better quality of life.

Always mindful of giving back to the community, Dr. Worldster Lee and his surgical staff participate annually in Mission Cataract USA, a nationwide program that offers free cataract surgery to visually impaired uninsured and indigent patients. Over the years, this program has restored vision to hundreds of Hawaii residents who otherwise would have no means to pay. The Cataract and Vision Center of Hawaii has volunteered for Mission Cataract USA every year since 1992 and is the only participating ophthalmology practice in Hawaii.

Dr. Lee has been listed in Honolulu Magazine’s “Best Doctors in Hawaii” and “Best Doctors in America” every year since its inception in 1993.
