Dr. Choi is a board certified and fellowship trained cataract, refractive and cornea surgeon. He completed his undergraduate studies at Northwestern University. He received his medical degree from University of Illinois at Chicago where he was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society graduating in the top 1% of his medical school class.
Dr. Choi completed his residency and fellowship training at the world-renowned Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, which has been ranked the #1 eye hospital in the country for the past 21 years. In addition to performing thousands of cataract surgeries, Dr. Choi is the top corneal surgeon in Hawaii. He has performed the most successful DMEK transplants in Hawaii and often handles the most challenging surgical cases referred by his colleagues. Dr. Choi is the surgeon of choice for fellow eye surgeons and medical professionals.
Dr. Choi is an elected member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) Preferred Practice Panel and Ophthalmic News and Education (ONE) Network. These appointments reflect Dr. Choi's committment to leading the field of ophthalmology as he along with his committe members are tasked with setting the standard of care for all ophthalmologist in the United States.
