Dr. Daniel Choi is an expert cataract, refractive and cornea surgeon who received his residency and fellowship training at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, ranked the No. 1 eye hospital in the US for the past 22 years. Over the past six years, Dr. Choi has been dedicated to elevating the quality of eye care in Hawai‘i and caring for the most challenging cataract and cornea cases. He also receives referrals from eye surgeons throughout the country as a recognized leader in his specialty.

Through his patients’ referrals, Dr. Choi has become one of the busiest and most successful cataract surgeons in the state. He attributes his many happy patients to an excellent team of nurses and support staff. The Cataract and Vision Center of Hawai‘i has an on-site outpatient surgery center, so patients benefit from having their consultations and surgeries all done at the same location.

Another key factor to Dr. Choi’s success is his personalized approach to care. Dr. Choi will conduct detailed consultations to suit each patient’s needs when planning surgery. He matches these needs with his surgical expertise and the best technology available. Dr. Choi is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology Preferred Practice Panel, which sets the standards for eye care in the United States. He has also been an invited expert lecturer on cataract surgery and instructor on corneal transplantation at national meetings. Locally, Dr. Choi is committed to ensuring Hawai‘i has the best eye care for decades to come. He serves as an assistant clinical professor at the University of Hawai‘i John A. Burns School of Medicine and is the medical director of the Lions Eye Bank of Hawai‘i.
